Wow, Big Space took a hit this past week, huh? Between Katy Perry’s jaunt and the cursed image below:

space science man neil deGrasse tyson flexing with cold plunge guy
the caption is somehow worse: “Tried hard, but didn't manage to look as mean and crazed as Joe Rogan did for this photo.” Also, that it was posted to bluesky lol

So here we are:

I can’t help it. I’m grateful to the Katy Perry News Cycle(s) because it feels... nostalgic?

Slate staff writer Heather Schwedel writes:

“They took up space, all right—space in our psyches that we will never get back.”

lmao.

Everyone is so grumpy!

This is high-grade Snark Classique. Mostly we are bitter and that feels spiritually correct and I’m flinging my soft meat suit into the churning turbines of this particular hot take machine because I like it.

Specifically I want to consider what it is about Katy Perry that elicits such violence and revulsion. Yes, the whole thing was gross. The rich people didn’t cover their heads with a napkin while they ate their space ortolan. I get it.

But also come the fuck on, obviously she is a patriarchy industry plant. And by patriarchy I mean Billionaires. In fact, I will use Patriarchy, Fascism, Billionaires, Borgs, Algo, Imperialism, Influencers, “Ceremonial-grade Matcha” pretty interchangeably on this Substack because this is my little area of the internet. Fight me.
